Ranking All 40 Jewel Signature Select Ice Cream Flavors

During the great covid pandemic of 2020, I was living with my parents in the Chicago Suburbs, trying to find a list of all of Jewel’s Signature Select Ice Cream flavors. To say the least, we could not find said list. This lead me to discovering and finishing a 1.5 quart carton of each and every flavor I could get my hands on. Turns out there were 40 of them.

Rankings are based on the taste of the ice cream alone, eaten out of a bowl with a spoon. No toppings, no cone. Although some vastly improved with sprinkles, chocolate sauce, magic shell or in a cone, the rankings are the rankings.

Here we go, a list of each flavor ranked on a scale of 0-5 Ice Cream Cones from worst to best.

#40 - Black Walnut (0.83)

“Black walnut ice cream with black walnut pieces” Strange taste, not very good - great for squirrels, not for humans - needs a lot of toppings (sprinkles, chocolate, etc), Sweet nut ice cream, with chunks of walnut.

#39 - JAVA Chip (2.5)

“Coffee ice cream with fudge flakes” Very coffee flavored, needs additional toppings (chocolate/caramel syrup, sprinkles, etc). Great with other toppings, maybe a higher ranking for a coffee lover.

#38 - Simply Churned Vanilla Bean (2.75)

“Reduced fat vanilla bean flavored ice cream” You can tell this is reduced fat, not as flavorful as a simple vanilla, needs toppings.

**#38** - Caramel Shortbread Cookie (2.75)

“Does this exist? It’s been ranked by 3 tasters, but I do not have a picture or a description” Rich, Caramel ice cream, very sweet cookie. Maybe this ice cream was by a different brand and we didn’t realize?

#37 - Black Raspberry Chip (2.83)

“Black raspberry flavored ice cream with a black raspberry swirl and dark chocolate pieces” Very soft, strong taste, strange texture/consistency, scoops quick!, Overly creamy and sweet, with chocolate chips, softer texture.

#36 - Caramel Caribou (2.83)

“Toffee flavored ice cream with caramel cups and luscious Denali Caramel” Very rich, too sweet, Carmel with chocolate.

#35 - dulce de leche (3.00)

“Caramel ice cream with a caramel swirl” Soft and creamy, caramel. Could use more taste, seemed to be lacking flavor.

#34 - Vanilla (3.00)

“Vanilla flavored ice cream” Basic vanilla, nothing fancy - much better with toppings.

#33 - Mint Moose Tracks (3.17)

“Mint ice cream with mint cups and famous moose tracks fudge” Mint meltaways combined with some moose tracks.

#32 - Strawberry Cheesecake (3.17)

“Cheesecake flavored ice cream with a strawberry flavored swirl & cheesecake chunks” Refreshing strawberry, Not enough cheesecake chunks.

#31 - Chocolate (3.17)

“Chocolate flavored ice cream” Basic chocolate, nothing fancy

#30 - Salted Caramel (3.25)

“Ice cream with salted caramel swirl & salted caramel truffles” Caramel flavored ice cream with a hint of salt. Goes great with other toppings.

#29 - Unicorn Cotton Candy (3.25)

“Cotton candy ice cream with candy sprinkles” Cotton Candy flavored ice cream with sprinkles included, very sugary, great for a taste or two, but hard to eat a lot. A child’s dream.

#28 - Frozen Yogurt Vanilla (3.25)

“Fat free frozen yogurt vanilla” Vanilla, but it is healthy for you... a little different consistency, but still good.

#27 - Frozen Yogurt Fudge (3.25)

“Fat free frozen yogurt fudge” It's like chocolate fudge, but healhty and not as tasty.

#26 - Peach Cobbler (3.25)

“Peach Flavored Icecream with a graham cracker swirl and shortbread pieces and peaches” Peachy ice cream with chunks of shortbread and peaches. Decent bite on a hot summers day.

#25 - Salted Caramel Pretzel (3.33)

“Caramel ice cream with a salted pretzel swirl & milk fudge flakes” Lacking salt and pretzel taste - almost a graham cracker - wish it was more like a take 5 - goes well with apple pie, Caramel ice cream with hint of graham cracker crust.

#24 - Lemon Cheesecake (3.33)

“Cheesecake flavored ice cream with a lemon flavored swirl and lemon cheesecake pieces” Could use a stronger lemon taste, chunks of cheesecake are meh.

#23 - Vanilla Bean (3.50)

“Vanilla flavored ice cream with vanilla bean specks” Classic, used with brownies & sundaes - goes well with toppings, Creamy classic vanilla. You can taste the vanilla bean, but I don’t know what that exactly is.

#22 - Fudge Chip (3.50)

“Vanilla flavored ice cream with fudge chips” Vanilla cream plus the fudge chips, but much better with additional toppings like sprinkles and magic shell.

#21 - Mint Cookie Crumble (3.50)

“Mint ice cream with a chocolaty cookie crumble swirl & chocolaty cookie pieces” Similar to mint moosetracks, chocolate crumbles are a good balance to the minty flavor.

#20 - Neapolitan (3.63)

“Strawberry, Chocolate & Vanilla flavored ice cream” The strawberry, vanilla and chocolate combo is classic and refreshing.

#19 - Strawberry (3.67)

“Strawberry flavored ice cream” She tasted like strawberries, on a summer evening... classic strawberry here.

#18 - Cinnamon Churro (3.75)

“Cinnamon churro flavored ice cream with a honey bun swirl and churro pieces” Think vanilla ice cream with hints of cinnamon and a taste of a smashed honeybun inside.

#17 - Pistachio (3.75)

“Pistachio flavored ice cream with roasted almonds” Green icecream that is soft, but tasty with pistachio chunks, pairs really well with dulce de leche.

#16 - Chocolate Fudge Brownie (3.75)

“Chocolate icecream with a fudge swirl and brownie bits” Not enough fudge swirl and the brownie bits seemed old and stale since they are frozen.

#15 - Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup (3.83)

“Chocolate ice cream with a peanut butter ripple & peanut butter cups” Very rich, almost too much chocolate? Would have been better with a vanilla base.

#14 - French Vanilla (3.83)

“French vanilla flavored ice cream” Classic Vanilla. Goes well with all toppings, can't go wrong

#13 - Homestyle Vanilla (3.83)

“Vanilla flavored ice cream” Rich and creamy, our 3rd vanilla tasting and the best.

#12 - rocky Road (3.83)

“Chocolate ice cream with marshmallows & roasted almonds” Marshmallows suprisingly soft and squishy with some tasty chocolate and almond bits

#11 - Black Cherry Vanilla (3.92)

“Cherry and vanilla flavored ice creams with black cherry chunks” Smooth and creamy vanilla with a swirl of cherry flavor and Maraschino cherry chunks, pairs well with chocolate.

#10 - Cookies & Cream (3.92)

“Vanilla flavored ice cream with chocolaty cookie pieces” Smashed up oreos mixed in with vanilla ice cream.

#9 - Orange Swirl (4.00)

“Orange Sherbet with vanilla flavored ice cream” Perfect on a hot and sunny day when you are looking for some orange sherbert type of icecream

#8 - Butter Pecan (4.00)

“Butter pecan ice cream with roasted pecan pieces” Sentimental to Josh, similar to pistachio, rich and sweet with pecan chunks.

#7 - Cookie Dough (4.00)

“Vanilla flavored ice cream with fudge chip cookie dough pieces” Classic, better with toppings (chocolate syrup), Vanilla with chunks of cookie dough & chocolate chips.

#6 - Sherbet Rainbow (4.00)

“Raspberry, Orange & Lime Sherbets. Natural and Artificial flavors added” Great on a hot summer day, reminds me of childhood push pops.

#5 - Chocolate Moose Tracks (4.00)

“Chocolate Icecream with Peanut Butter cups and famous moose tracks fudge” Chocolate overload! Pretty good, but could use a hint of vanilla.

#4 - Monster Cookie (4.00)

“Peanut Butter Icecream with cookie swirl and candy milk chocolate pieces” It's like having a m&m cookie mashed up in your icecream. Very tasty.

#3 - Extreme Moose Tracks (4.08)

“Chocolate Ice Cream with Moose Tracks Fudge-filled Cups and Famous Moose Tracks Fudge” Almost a chocolate overload, but delicious

#2 - Brownie Moose Tracks (4.42)

“Vanilla flavored ice cream with chewy brownie bits and famous moose tracks fudge” Reminds me of fudge twirl, very good, needs some more brownie bits.

#1 - Original Moose Tracks (4.67)

“Vanilla flavored ice cream with peanut butter cups and famous moose tracks fudge” Classic, Fudge swirl with tiny peanut butter cups.

And there you have it. All 40 of Jewel Osco’s Signature Select brand Ice Cream Flavors ranked from worst to best. I hope this finds someone who is searching for all the flavors out there, just as I was years ago.
