I was running….
With most of my day consisting of sitting on the couch lately because of the coronavirus lockdown, I decided that I would do some running. So I did, every day of April. Whether the weather was chilly, sunny, windy or rainy, I always found time to run every single day. I ended up running 130 miles during the 30 days of April. Definitely the most days I have ever ran in a row and the most miles in a month.
Benefits I found from daily running:
Clears the mind, makes you feel good inside and out (I ran without music/podcasts to get away from it all)
Consistent exercise, relatively easy (as long as it wasn’t raining)
Working out legs = stronger legs (I usually don’t workout, especially legs)
Something to do and look forward to every day (a new way to explore your neighborhood)
Gets you outside of your home! Coronavirus lockdown specific… (I usually run in the street to be 6+ feet from everyone)
Here is a breakdown of each day. Some days longer than others, some slower than others, but regardless, I always found time to run a minimum of two miles.

I did not do any specific tracking for the first 3 days of April, but decided it would be a good idea to start tracking my runs on April 4th. April 4th-6th I used the Map My Run app which requires me running with my phone (it can be pretty annoying). I began using my Garmin Forerunner 35 watch on April 7th. This watch is nice because it has GPS built in, so I did not need to bring my phone with on any of my runs. It is also pretty affordable at only $99. I picked one up on sale back on prime day in July for only $85. I highly recommend and you can find that watch here if you are interested.
Anyways, here are the maps of where I ran, the distances I ran and the time it took for my 30 runs (actually only 27 since I didn’t do the first 3 days).
These are the shoes I have been wearing while running. I picked them up over a year ago on an end of year sale for $30. Pumas. Puma Ignite Flash Evoknit shoes to be specific. Funny thing is I have yet to retie these shoes and just slip them on and off when going on my runs…
Well that was fun, should I continue my daily running into May? What other things should I try to do every day for a month? I am thinking Yoga for the month of May, but what about the months to come? Any suggestions?
See ya out on the trails (actually streets).
