Starting off this blog on Friday December 16th, 2016. After a day of working from home and watching Home Alone 1 and 2, Brian gave me a call and told me he had an extra ticket to the Bulls game that night. And just like that, I was headed to my second Bulls game ever, with the first only coming just a month ago.
I left my apartment a little after 6p and picked up Brian who only lives a few blocks from the United Center. It was snowing out and the roads were slick, but I survived the drive. Brian, who had gotten his tickets from someone at work, also had a parking ticket. At first the parking lot which didn't show up on the map didn't seem promising. But then it turned out into an absolute gem. Once we found out where the parking lot was, it turned out to be a garage, which was perfect since the snow was really coming down now. We parked the car and then walked on in across the snowy lot to the Chicago Bulls vs the Milwaukee Bucks game.
The line was much shorter than when Rachel and I went to our game a few weeks ago, probably because Rose and Noah were not returning, but also because of the snow I'm sure. Once inside we immediately ran into a few of the Luvabulls cheerleaders, so I thought it would be great to snap a photo with them. Besides having a mustache and them showing no interest in being anywhere near me, I also had freezing cold hands that I placed on their bare skin backs for a second before feeling really bad about it. Sorry ladies! We also noticed that Darth Vader and a lot of storm troopers were in the building. It was Star Wars Night. We found our seats in the 300 level section, pretty solid view. The Bulls played pretty terrible and ended up losing by almost 30 points. But some highlights from the night included a weird guy painting Yoda for the halftime show, Biggy Bagel winning the race again, Brian and I enjoying some vanilla/chocolate swirl ice cream cones, and the best thing of the night, Brian catching the parachute when they did the KIA tshirt drop near the end of the 4th quarter. Check out some of the photos from the night. Be sure to check the Vlog to see Brian catch the parachute! Thanks for the tickets Brian!
After we got back to our car, which was snow free, I dropped Brian off at his place and then headed back to our apartment where Rachel was waiting with Pequods pizza. What a girl! I ate a slice or two and we put on 50 Shades of Grey to watch before heading to bed. Interesting movie, may have to listen to the book on tape...
The next morning on Saturday December 17th I had to go in to work. After work, I came back home and hung out with Rachel for awhile before we headed to Old Town for a Second City Show for Michele's Birthday. The show was 41st Revue and kinda funny, but to be honest, the first half sucked. Like I felt like me and my friends were up there performing for the first time, not the best show we have seen. Actually it was the worst we've seen, but there were still some really funny parts that had us laughing. The second half was definitely a big step up. We enjoyed a Blue Moon and Miller Lite pitcher while watching with Mary, Jordan, Michele, and other friends.
After the second city show, we walked across the street to the Old Town Alehouse where we had a few beers, ate homemade tamales from the tamale guy, and a plethora of photos were taken. Mary is very good at taking photos. See below.
A little bit after 1am, Mary, Rachel, and I decided to head out and go to our old stomping grounds, the Old Town McDonald's on North Ave. It was of course still open. Amazing. After ordering food that included Mary getting nuggets with no sauce, we hopped in an Uber to Frank's. The night goes on.
We got to Frank's just after 1:30a and brought in our McDonald's to eat. We set up a nice meal in our usual spot, next to the jukebox, ordered a few PBRs, our usual brew, and began to dine. We ended up being at Frank's way longer than anticipated because we had to wait for Mary's song selection of Alice's Restaurant and other assorted bar killer jams to come on. After the 18 minute ballad we finally left around 3:45a, but the night was not over for Rachel and I!
Next stop on our way home was Angela's Burrito where Rachel and I got our second dinner and decided to dine in around 4am. Earlier at Frank's, there was this drunk girl who couldn't get her dollar to go in the Jukebox, I even tried to help but it was no luck. When we were in Angela's she was in front of us trying to pay and then we saw her asleep eating her mexican food. She had a good night. Watch the VLog for proof!
Finally we headed home and we were in bed at 4:30am. What a fun night!
The next day on Sunday December 18th, Grandpa Bob and my parents saw our apartment and picked us up. We drover over with Grandpa Bob, my parents to Beth's place for a little Christmas celebration. We hung out for awhile, enjoying some dip Rachel made, and then headed to Gioradano's for pizza. It was super cold out and I didn't realize it until the short walk over. The pizza was delicious and the company was great. My parents gave us a ride home and Rachel and I called it an early night after the late night we had before.
The next four days of work leading up to Christmas weekend were not too eventful. In fact I didn't even take any photos or videos during that time. Here is all what went down. On Monday December 19th it was still freezing out. 0 Degrees for sure. I worked and then picked up Chick-Fil-A for dinner for myself, my parents and Grandpa Bob. I spent the evening hanging with Grandpa Bob and doing laundry at my parent's house. I ended up falling asleep watching the TV show 11.22.63 on the couch.
The next day December 20th a Tuesday, I worked and ate McDonald's for lunch. Wednesday the 21st of December included working 11 hours and coming home to a wonderful chicken fajita dinner made by my love. I am a lucky man! I finished The Walking Dead finally late that night. My last day of work before the Christmas weekend, Thursday December 22nd involved me heading to Target to do some grocery shopping after work. I picked up some Wendy's for dinner and relaxed with Rachel once I was home.
We have a packed holiday weekend coming up!
