On September 13th, 2016, Rachel, John, Melissa, and I returned to reality and work. For the past 10 days we were in Iceland (blog with link coming soon). With the help of a little jet lag, I was asleep by 10:30p. September 13th is also the 20th anniversary of the supposed death of Tupac Shakur. 2Pac lives! Go on Pac, Hit em with a little
I headed to my parents early on Wednesday September 14th to do a lot of laundry in the morning. That night after work Rachel and I watched Mr. Robot Episode 10 of Season 2 while eating some pork and potatoes with a yummy sauce Rachel made compliments of blue apron.
On Thursday September 15th I got the book 11.22.63 from the library, on tape of course because we all know I can't read good (I know it is well...) That night Rach went all in and made us another scrumptious blue apron dinner. I also went on a Casey Neistat binge since I had missed about 10 of his videos while I was on vacation in Iceland (like I said before, that blog coming soon).
I stayed out in the burbs at my parents again on Friday September 16th, Beth made shrimp, potato, and onion meal. Rach also took the train down to spend the evening. We hung out for about 2 hours and then Rachel and Beth fell asleep while watching TV. I spent remainder of the night doing more laundry and cleaning up a little bit. I downloaded final cut pro trial, may purchase soon ya'll.
Saturday September 17th. After working late all week, I had to work early in the morning. After work I headed back to my parents and drank some brews while organizing and cleaning around my parent's house. Beth's roommate from college was coming into town so I wanted to make sure I didn't have any dirty undies laying around ya know. Once Rachel got back from a Bridal shower we headed to Downtown Naperville to do some shopping. Anthropologie cooking up all the smells and goods! Love that place! We picked up a couple of Portillo's hot dogs on our way back to the city for dinner. Once home, we unpacked the car and then headed out to Matt and Caitlin's new apartment warming party. Their place was pretty dope, well put together and quite the view of the city from their balcony! Rach and I initially didn't plan on staying all too late, but ended up catching an Uber home at 2am. Oops! Also holy cow, Happy 10 Year Anniversary on YouTube to YaBoys. Read about it by clicking that link.
Sunday September 18th was a huge day for us. We changed up the apartment. Renovating all day. I mounted the TV and soundbar with Rach's help. We installed new ethernet cords for all the internets. We also have decided to do away with our peeling leather love seat. This really opens up the whole room. Man do I love changing things. As a kid I would change my room all the time, moving furniture, changing the wall decor, organizing all I could. In college I continued this trend by changing our dorm room while my roommate was at home for the weekend. Again moving furniture around and changing up the whole space. I've been a little more restricted to do so now, but boy does it feel good again. I always got a sense of newness and energy out of changing my room up, making it feel like a new place. Glad to be back at it. Oh Rach and I also may have had our last McDonald's of 2016, but only time will tell!
That night Rach and I took the bus to Gold Coast and went to Lux Bar for dinner. We had steak tartare as an appetizer. Rachel got the Alaskan King Crab Bisque soup and I had the Ricotta Gnocchi for dinner. I also had a saison beer, pretty good. This food was super delicious AND seemed relatively priced compared to anything we ate in Iceland (blog coming soon for the 3rd time). Shout out and thank you to my Father for hooking us up with a couple gift cards to Lux Bar as well. Back at our place I caught the last few minutes of the Emmy's where Mr Robot won best actor in a lead role. Yes!
Monday September 19th, Rach makes a blue apron of Cod and stuff, was good but led me to the bathroom with some serious stomach pain. Ouch
Tuesday September 20th was another day of renovating. I installed new lights in our apartment in the morning, but meh. They are a white LED and looks too much like a garage or office building, so we most likely will get new ones and I will need to use my pro electrician skills once again. That's right everybody, I untwisted wires, retwisted wires, replaced the entire fixtures not just light bulbs, and didn't get electrocuted. I got chipotle for lunch on my way to work. The cats had their first captain led fall practice. I went on another little YouTube binge when I got home at 9:30p. This time watching on the big screen in the bedroom. Sleep time.
See ya next week.
