Song of the Week:
On Tuesday January 20th, 2015, I got home from work and made Rachel and I some delicious steaks. While eating our steak dinner with potatoes we watched Lone Survivor. Really good war movie based on a true story, although I hear the book is better, but isn't it always? I know there are recent war movies and I am sure I have seen them, but not in awhile, so this movie really put it into perspective for me and felt more "real" just from the fact that this happened in the 2000s and I was alive, compared to a WWII film. I guess I am just more "connected" with this era of war, makes ya ponder life, that's for sure.
Wednesday January 21st was a bad day at work because I developed a bad case of diarrhea while coaching my last class. Quite embarrassing, but the kids thought it was funny, so that works I guess. After work I finished another audio book, American Assassin by Vince Flynn. Rachel hipped me to this series about special agent Mitch Rapp. Seems like it will be a great set of novels! I had mostocholi for dinner at my parents house and watched the movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire with Beth, in preparation for our upcoming trip to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. If the animated Disney film is anything like the real thing, we are in for a treat!
On Thursday January 22nd, I had a coaches meeting for NV where I had a couple Lagunitas IPA's. Yum. That night I watched a bunch of The Walking Dead.
Friday, January 23rd, I spent the whole morning watching more of The Walking Dead, attempting to power through season 4, and it is pretty good. I filmed a new wallball lax video at work and hit up Jewel after work. Squid and I watched Jcubed videos on our "smart" TV while drinking some Johnny Appleseed cider beers and eating beef stew. Delicious and hilarious! We laughed at many of the great videos, including Cribs, Sup, & Marble Matchup 2. Watching our MTV Cribs 1 reminds me that it is probably our greatest video ever.
Saturday the 24th of January was my first FV Lax practice. Had to wake up and get to practice by 6:45am. Afterwards I drove back the city and picked up some McDonald's for Rachel and I. Had a coupon so we got quarter pounders. Not to be mean, but why would anyone pay $4 for that sandwich when you can get 2 McDoubles & 2 McChickens for the same price. I'll never not shop on that dollar menu. Smart. That afternoon I binged watched more of The Walking Dead and finished season 4. One of my favorite seasons where the point of view is constantly changing and each persons story is told. Rachel and I had chicken stir fry with quinoa on Saturday evening before heading over to Becca's new apartment. After hanging at her apartment for a bit, we walked over to a bar that I drive past ever day called The Twisted Spoke, the bar where the motorcycle with a skeleton on it spins in circles on the roof. She lives super close to it now, so we went there and Rachel and I split a cheese fry and had "butch" beers as they were called. Basically the owners picks some poopy beer and sells it for $2 as a "butch" beer, seems like a deal to me. We got the Astra German premium beer, or Astro as Rachel liked to call it (in memory of her pup). We took the bus home just before midnight.
On Sunday January 25th, I had to rise early once again for another lax practice. This time waking up at 5:30 and leaving by 5:45 am. After practice, I returned home and helped Rachel burn a pizza in our oven which produced a little fire and quite a bad smell. After doing some research, we put some vinegar in the oven and outside of the oven. Vinegar appears to be the ultimate substance to cure all things. Rachel and I went grocery shopping and then redboxed 22 Jump Street. The movie was quite enjoyable and pretty funny as we enjoyed quesadillas for dinner. I watched a few episodes of The Walking Dead Season 5 on On-Demand. I was also a bit angry that Cribs 3 hasn't been on YouTube for a few months, so decided to go back and edit out the songs that are restricting it from behind played. After watching the masterpiece of Cribs 1, I also decided I need to readjust all of the song volumes and edit it better, as well as cutting it down... just slightly.
Monday January 26th I did not have to go in to work, so I spent the morning editing the Wall Ball video I filmed for work on Friday, then took the bus downtown to meet up with Rachel for lunch. We ate in her building at a super nice mall (900 N Michigan) at a Potbelly. I had a big wreck and enjoyed my time with her as we walked around the stores, looking at $450 dresses and $200 cotton sweatshirts. I am unsure how someone could ever spend that much money on something so simple and normal. It was normal clothes! With a super high price tag on it. Crazy. I left around 1:30 pm and decided to take some photos along Lake Shore Drive as I walked home. It wasn't too chilly out with my warm fur hat and new photography gloves, so I stayed out and walked the 3 miles home in about 2 hours, getting some great photos of the lake, ice, and the city. Check a few of them out! I also decided to dabble with the RAW images, so I am able to better edit them in photoshop. I finished the first half of season 5 of The Walking Dead and am a little disappoininted in the season so far, but am now officially caught up, and can begin watching the first week of February. I did a little workout while I was watching and continued to edit Cribs 3. Once Rachel got home, we enjoyed our Sweet N Sour covered chicken that was cooking in the crockpot all day with onions, carrots, peppers, and topped it off with some pineapple. Delicious dinner as always. Rachel and I watched The Interview, and I did not think it was too funny at all, or offensive for that matter. Perhaps it has been altered since it's original release plans, considering it was not released because North Korea threatened us, or something like that. I finished editing Cribs 3 and reuploaded, enjoy!
