SONG OF THE WEEK: Million Dollar Bill by Dawes. Been enjoying these guys lately.
On Tuesday May 12th, 2015 the Cats suffered their first loss of the year. A hard fought battle which we came up short 6-4 against New Trier. That night I watched the movie Drinking Buddies which is a comedy about a couple of drinking buddies who work at a brewery.
Wednesday May 13th I had a bunch of practices and scrimmaged with the Beth's JV girls. That night I spent some time with my Mom's Canadian friends and watched the movie Cashback before a bed.
Thursday May 14th was a day of food for me. I had a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch from Nicky's. At practice, my team went all out and bought 25 McChickens, my boys know me too well. Then Rachel and I got chipotle for dinner and enjoyed that while watching Pitch Perfect.
I started Friday May 15th with a McDonalds breakfast sandwich. The cats then had their final regular season game against the huskies. We were missing a bunch of juniors but were able to bump down 3 varsity guys to fill the roster. We went on to secure our 14th victory of the season. A season ending with a 14-1 record and 150 goals scored. Not a bad year. One of our players wore a giant picture of our assistant coach's face on the back of his helmet. This is why JV gets the girls. After the game I headed to practice which went well. Then I met Rachel and Squid at the movie theater. We were there to see Pitch Perfect 2. It was aca-awesome. The first movie we had seen all year in theaters, as the price of a movie ticket is $12 which is ridiculous, but it was worth it! We enjoyed some buttery popcorn while watching as well.
On Saturday May 16th, Rachel and I and the rest of the family attended Sophia's second birthday party. She is growing up so fast. I had to leave early to go coach a lax game. That evening, I met up with my family at Friday's for some tasty food. I got the jack daniel's bbq burger which is always delicious. On the drive home we saw someone who tried to drive through a construction zone and get stuck. So close to make it through that 2 foot deep gap. Back at my parent's place, Rachel, Squid, & I played some scene it with my parents. John then came over and we played some darts, had some margaritas, took a shot of tequila and then went on a midnight walk over to the local graveyard. Rachel was missing her phone when we left for the walk, but just assumed she left it inside. As we were walking across the street to my house I saw her phone laying in the middle of the street. It had somehow fallen out of her pocket and we didn't notice, then lay untouched in the middle of the street for at least 30 minutes while we were gone. If we didn't see it then, we probably wouldn't have looked until the morning. Woo wee.
On Sunday May 17th, another lax tournament was cancelled because of heavy rains the previous day, even though it was a beautiful sunny day out. Rachel and I chanted "Hot Dogs" on our way over to Johnny Red Hots to get a couple of dogs and fries each. Yummy. We then hit up Meijer and did some serious grocery shopping, as we had not been in a couple of weeks, maybe a month? I then coached another victory lacrosse game. That evening, Rachel and I attended a coach's appreciate party for my Cats team. The food was delicious and it was good speaking with the parent board about our team's successful year. We then drove back to Chicago to call it a night.
Monday May 18th was a pretty cool day. My assistant and I did player evaluation for our JV boys and it was awesome to hear how many of the players agreed with what they need to work on and hear how they had a great year. I had one player tell me, "This is the most fun i've ever had on a team, and this was my favorite year of lacrosse ever." Pretty cool, especially coming from a guy who wasn't a starter but has a great future. Love that attitude. One of my players brought me another McChicken. Oh how I will miss these guys. Great times, great season, great kids, great year.
MOVIE OF THE WEEK: Pitch Perfect 2. Aca-awesome. Unless you are a huge fan, wait for it on DVD.
