It's Gonna Rain

Tuesday May 5th, Cinco De Mayo~! Was spent with another Cats victory, some McDonald's for lunch and dinner at the crib. Rach and I watched Legally Blonde while I worked on an Apaches video from 2013. I was unable to release it for awhile, since we were using prototype sticks, so I didn't edit it for awhile, but I finished it so, check out the video!

On Wednesday May 6th I coached and slept, that was about it.

Thursday May 7th was spent indulging in 2 McChickens for lunch and then headed to Caesers that evening with Rachel, Mary, Jeff, and Aly for some Killer Margaritas. There was quite an ordeal when they charged us $2 extra for steak in our torta, when it didn't have the extra price next to the meal. We were outraged, but had our drinks for an expensive price, so we were happy.

Friday May 8th it stormed right after our Cats practice. That evening I headed over to Jackie's to meet up with some friends for a little bit of True American. Rachel met me there!

On Saturday May 9th our tournament got cancelled because of the storms the night before, so we had some indoor games. We then headed out for a Mother's Day lunch with the family. I got the belt buster burger. It busted my belt as I could only finish half of it. We headed to church afterwards. That night I watched Loyola of Chicago repeat as Volleyball National Champions. They took on Lewis in a 5 set instant classic. Illinois volleyball rules

Sunday May 10th my tournament was cancelled again, as it was raining all day again, but we had a few more indoor games. I headed back to the city, had some soup for lunch then cleaned around the apartment and edited. I watched Godzilla 2014 and made some pasta for dinner. Yum. Monday May 11th began just as the weekend ended. Practice was cancelled, it has been raining a lot here lately. I finished two book by Orson Scott Card on audiotape this day as well. Shadows in Flight and A War of Gifts. Both books were much shorter than his previous novels but still had a great story line. They are in line with the Ender Wiggin series. That evening Rachel and I headed to Trader Joes and then cooked up some chicken ceesar salad wraps for dinner. They were delicious. We also watched the first episode of the Sherlock series. Pretty good!

The week began on Tuesday April 28th with a thrilling 6-5 overtime win to keep our winning streak alive. Afterwards Rachel made an amazing dinner of pasta, meats, and sauce. Yum. I stayed up late working on and finishing editing the NV lax game from the week before (posted in last weeks blog). It was also on this day that I received an email informing me of my denial from the Chicago Marathon for 2015. So to my dismay, I will not be running the marathon this year, as I did not get in. At least I don't have to start running a lot!

On Wednesday April 29th I got my oil changed, had 3 practices and then got some chipotle dinner with Rachel. Burrito bowl be tasty.

Thursday April 30th, I was supposed to have a game, but the other team chickened out, claiming their bus broke down and they couldn't drive the 15 minutes across town to play us. Why would they have a bus anyway? I stayed and caught a lovely sunset and filmed the varsity game. Little time to edit, so hopefully have that film done for next week some time. Made some mac n' cheese for dinner and called it a night.

On Friday May 1st, we had a little fun at practice, scrimmaging Beth's JV girls team. At the start of practice, one of my players brought me a McChicken, he will be starting on saturday. A stick swap and rule changes provided some quality laughs for both teams. The boys pulled off a 3-0 win, but the girls are looking for revenge next week! Afterwards I headed to Bartlett and picked up Rachel from the train station, then lead my 8 grade boys to an amazing victory over a team we had never beat! Rachel was sweet enough to be there and came to the after party afterwards. I can sum the party up by saying I got to meet 2 leopard geckos, named Rico & Sauve. Great team party!

On Saturday May 2nd, I headed back out to the burbs to coach my teams to 3 victories. The Cats stay undefeated getting win 12 and the foxes also got the W. That night, Rachel and I headed to Phil's place for May Fest where we enjoyed copious amounts of booze in a short amount of time with Brian, Megan, Chris, & Alyssa which lead to my ultimate goal for the night. Prost!

Woke up on Sunday to head back out to the burbs for some more games. Rachel and I enjoyed Wing Stop for dinner while watching the Movie Taxi Driver. Forgot how awesome that flick is. Also how old it is. 1976! Another Martin Scorsese masterpiece.

On Monday, after work and some practices, I watched Wet Hot American Summer. Classic late 90s early 2000s film. Watch it! Now read a great article about John McCauley and a folk movie coming out soon!

Tournament Champions & a 10-0 Start

On Tuesday April 21st, I hit up the dentist and found out I had 3 cavities. Unsure how this is possible since I have had all of my teeth filled multiple times, racking up well over 50 cavities over a lifetime. We took a bus to our first away game of the year and won a close 6-4 match at the top of the hill.

Deer tick is making new music! Hell yes! The boys are back in the studio. Get pumped.

Wednesday April 22nd, began with a trip back to the dentist to have those 3 cavities filled. After three practices, I headed home to Chicago and got some Renaldi's pizza with Rachel for dinner. A lovely little mid week city date with some tasty pizza and a beverage. Summer Shandy because in Chicago, it is always summer...

On Thursday April 23th, we played the arch rivals WV and dominated with a 12-4 win, putting us at 9-0 on the year. It was good to see and play against players I had coached last year for FV. Filmed the varsity game after, check the footage below. I had some Giordano's deep dish pizza for dinner thanks to the fam. Tasty. Sleep on.

Friday April 24th started with some donuts, I had 3 with sprinkles, fat. I had some left over pizza from Renaldi's for lunch and then hit up practice. After, my family went to Wings and Rings for a tasty dinner. I had a lovely burger with a shandy for dinner. We watched some ACC college lax on tv. Good family times!

Saturday April 25th proved to be a busy day. It started with another win for the cats in the pouring rain. 10-0 on the season. Good start so far. Immediately after the game, I shed my wet clothes and drove up to Milwaukee for a FV tournament. My teams played well and my 8 grade boys ended up winning the whole thing. We got medals, no trophy. Great for the kids, but lame for us coaches. We want the trophazz. I then drove back to Chicago to celebrate Rachel's Bday at our place by having a little party. It was gonna be a chill night for me, but then I found out my 2 games for Sunday morning got cancelled. Time to rage. I ended up meeting 2 folks from Ireland and showed them my Ireland photobook. I am so cool. We hit up LP Stadium since Gas Light was at capacity and jammed out to Deer Tick on the juke box. Loved it. Our waitress knew the song, "These Old Shoes" and danced to it with us. Great night.

On Sunday April 26th, after being awoken by a phone call to reschedule the lax games, I picked up some McDonald's for Rach and I, but was a bit upset when I saw the price of the McDouble has risen to $1.45 and the McChicken to $1.19. The McChicken spokesman is on the verge of heading elsewhere for his dollar deals. Unbelievable. I had to drive out to Wheaton for the game and ended up just reffing it myself because no refs showed up. What a waste of time. At least the weather was nice. Once back at our place, I finally figured out how to work our patio grills. No propane, no charcoal. All I had to do was turn on the grill. The gas must be fed straight from the building. Only took us 8 months to figure it out. Alright! Rachel and I grilled some tasty burgers and asparagus that evening. We also met our neighbors Jason and Kristin who were also grilling. Yay neighbors. We watched Mad Men while enjoying our food.

Monday April 27th a pretty basic day. Had work, then practices and then ate some soup. Beth and I redboxed, The Theory of Everything, a Stephen Hawking documentary. It was a pretty good movie in which I actually learned a fair amount about Hawking's early life and his development of ALS. I highly suggest this movie, for the acting of Eddie Redmayne was phenomenal. And you guessed it, it is the movie of the week!
