Song of the Week: Led Zeppelin's Moby Dick. Talk about a drum solo. And probably the first song that will play longer than your read of this blog!
Tuesday May 19th, 2015 was the first day of Illinois state lax playoffs. The varsity cats pulled out the win over huskies, despite 0 goals being scored in the last 10 minutes of the game. I made some corn, bean and quinoa for dinner. Rachel and I then watched the last Mad Men, Ever. Despite missing a handful of episodes (Rachel watched them all) it seemed to an appropriate end to a long iconic show. Peggy finds love and Don finds his Zen. It ended with Don doing some yoga and this quote.
On Wednesday May 20th, I had my 3 practices which it was raining at. I played some lax with the cats, concluding that I am very out of shape. Got home and Rachel cooked up salmon and noodles for dinner. We enjoyed an episode of Sherlock while enjoying dinner.
Thursday May 21st, I headed up to Michigan with my Grandma. She made me some breakfast before we left, then we opened up the trailer when we got there, meeting my Aunt Ruth. It is looking a little different with many of the dead trees cut down, but more room for activities! After all of our hard work we enjoyed some Big Boy for dinner. I then drove my grandma home and headed back to the city. Rachel and I watched Caddyshack that night. Forgot how many great scenes and quotes come from the movie. Check out some pics from the trailer opening below.
Friday May 22nd. I had work and then practice. Headed over to Gio's that evening for some burgers and beers.
On Saturday May 23rd, Had a few games during the morning, then headed back to Chicago. Watched part of the semi final lacrosse games. We partied it up at Mary & Jeff's place that night. Beer pong and a hawks win ended the late night out.
To begin Sunday May 24th, I made my peanut butter bars, then headed out to a game in Grayslake. Awesome high school and stadium set up! I came back to Chicago and cooked up some pasta salad for the Torie & Tim's party. While cooking, I watched Tufts win the D3 national championship for a second straight year in a 19-11 shootout. Got to love goals! I walked on over to Torie & Tim's place and was the first guest for the party! Tim had cooked up a bunch of ribs and pulled pork during the day and Rachel picked me up a pretty cool looking IPA to drink. A more calm, delicious evening of food and drinks that ended at Rock's bar. Rachel, Sarah, Colin, & I walked home at the evenings end.
Monday May 25th, Happy Memorial Day. The day of the Division 1 College Lacrosse National Championship. Denver wins it, and becomes the first team not touching the Atlantic Coast to win this title. Pretty awesome! Rachel and I cooked up some sausage sandwiches for dinner, I made myself some frozen margaritas, and we watched the riveting movie, Wild.
MOVIE OF THE WEEK: Wild. Inspiring and phenomenal film about a young woman, Cheryl Strayed, who hikes the Pacific Crest Trail after many life changing events.
VIDEO OF THE WEEK: I'd like to buy the world a coke! Mad Men's final scene. A 1971 Coke ad.
Summer is nearly here. The weather has been beautiful lately, shorts and boat shoes all weekend long! Looking forward to a fun filled summer with multiple trips to the trailer and potential city shenanigans. Party on!
