Songs of the Week: John McCauley of Deer Tick will provide the tunes this week.
Tuesday May 26th, 2015 I was lucky enough to have a little work from home. Once Rachel got home we headed out to Lincoln Station for dollar tacos on taco tuesday. We also got a club spud as an appetizer, basically a giant potato with club sandwich toppings on it. Yum! I got 6 tacos which may have been a little over kill but ate them all anyway. That night Rachel and I watched the movie Enemy with Jake Gyllenhall which was pretty interesting and had the "scariest" ending of all time according to some random internet critic. Not true at all, but the ending was very confusing, leaves ya thinking.
On Wednesday May 27th I picked up two whoppers from BK for dinner. Then headed to practice where I suited up with my kids and scrimmaged another team. Here is a photo of me and some of the coaches who played. Candyman at work. Afterwards I headed to Adam's parents to hang out with him, Brandy, and Brian. We indulged in far too many s'mores around the campfire. Afterwards I drove through some fog to find cheap gas. Worth it.
On Thursday May 28th I picked up more BK for dinner. Some nuggets and a fry this time. Coupons are leading me to an unhealthy life! Had a practice and then starting reading the book Outliers which has some very interesting concepts and points. Rachel made us some absolutely delicious mouth watering bacon, cheese, chicken sandwiches. We watched the movie Stand by Me while enjoying our sandwiches.
On Friday May 29th, Gio and I booked it out of work, then chilled at his place for little bit before heading down to Indy for the weekend tournament. On the way we stopped at a famous restaruant that was on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives called Triple XXX. It was in west lafayette where Purdue is located. The place was a little place with friendly staff and 1950's seating. We both enjoyed a tasty Triple XXX rootbeer and I got the The Duane Purvis All-American burger. A burger that was topped with peanut butter, but made famous by them! It was a little weird, but actually the flavors went great together. Peanut butter on all my burgers from now on! We made it to the hotel and enjoyed a night of partying with the parents in the hotel.
Saturday May 30th was a day of lax in which some crazy storms rolled through the northern Indy area. We got about a game and a half of lax out of the 3 games we were supposed to play so that was decent. There were flash flood warnings and I ended up seeing a girl who drove her car off road and was in a ditch full of water. I didn't stop, but kinda felt guilty about not stopping after, even though a bunch of other people were in front of me and behind me as well. Poor girl was getting out of her car that had water half way up her door. Once back at the hotel we went to a local sports restaurant, Champps to get some dinner and watch game 7 of the Western Conference Finals for the NHL. The Hawks pulled off an amazing come back to close out the series with a win and head to the Stanley Cup finals. Dinner was pretty good and so were the drinks. The place was packed and there was also live music going on. The band must have been pretty shocked and had to switch up their set list when little boys and girls flooded the dance floor and gathered around for the show. It was pretty hilarious. The band actually was playing an "older" song and stopped mid song to explain that none of the kids new the song and then played a new popular song the kids new. It was pretty sweet. Check some of the pics. The night ended with Gio and I enjoying ourselves with more of the parents. Lax!
Sunday May 31st, my team lost their first playoff game and then I sat around to watch Gio's team take the title. Afterward we started to head back and stopped to get the worst McDonald's I have had in a long time. It reminded me of 1990s poopy, sloppy, cold McDonalds. It took the peeps behind the counter 30 minutes to get me 3 McDoubles and they were poorly made, cold, and tasted awful. Also they were having open interviews when we were there and a girl named Shaneuqua was interviewing. Cannot confirm the spelling, but wow, didn't know people with that name actually existed! We got back to Naperville and I took a little nap, only to have to wake up to go to the Cats lax banquet that night. It was a pretty dope venue, Bolingbrook Golf club, and it was a pretty dope banquet. The food was decent and I presented some words about each player on the team and then gave out some awards. It was a night in which the applause was in the JV teams favor. The player's coaches have arrived. Celebrating a great 14-1 season, best year of lax as a coach yet! Drove back to the city that night and hit the hay.
On Monday June 1st, I was able to rest up and do a little work from home. That night Rachel and I enjoyed some soups and watched the classic Michael Douglass movie Falling Down. Great flick, if you haven't seen I highly suggest!
Videos of the Week: 2 this week. A pretty awesome skateboard film and then a chicago timelapse. Need to do both of these this summer...
Movie of the Week: Stand By Me. The story of 4 young friends who go on a quest to find the body of a missing boy. A film for the ages, based on a book by Stephen King. Enjoy
See ya next week folks. Weather is heating up and lax is nearing it's end. Party on. Go Cats.
