Song of the Week:
Tuesday January 27th, 2015, I finished editing a video from earlier in 2014 of Emma and Anna waking up Beth and Rachel in the wee hours of the night. Figured I would throw it together since they reminded me of it the other day when we went out to eat.
For dinner, Rachel and I had a little rice and meat meal which was very enjoyable as we watched a few episodes of Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Later that night I finished the last episode of American Horror Story Season 4: Freak Show. By far my least favorite season yet, although the last episode was pretty good, the whole season just dragged and was pretty boring in my opinion.
Wednesday January 28th, I watched Captain America: Winter Solider after work with Squid. Solid, action packed film.
On Thursday January 29th after work, Rachel and I walked over to a local shawarma spot and got shawarma for dinner. My first shawarma since Europe! It has been 2 1/2 years since I last had this inexpensive, delicious goodness! Too long! We devoured the shawarma with 2 blue moons in blue moon glasses with oranges. Fancy. We watched some more Always Sunny and then I worked on a Rome Photobook from my Europe trip and also put together a Colorado calendar. Both were free with coupons that were expiring in a few days!
Friday January 30th started with me finishing a Wall Ball video for work. I am the star of the video and you can see it here!
On my ride to work, I finished the crime mystery novel, 1st to Die by James Patterson. Quick solid read (listen) about a murder mystery and some crime detectives trying to solve it. Later that night, Rachel visited me at work and we picked up some Wendy's for dinner. Got that free Jr Frosty with every purchase now, thanks Frosty Keychain Tag, so I got one of those as well! We drove over to her brother's place in Joliet and then hit up Bedrocks Tap and The Cave in Shorewood to see a band called Recycle the Day. We are potentially going to have them play at our wedding and wanted to see what kind of show they put on. The band came on around 10pm and when we left at 11:30, they had not stopped playing. They played a mixture of songs, from dancing classics to new pop music, so we were very happy with what we saw by the time we left. Oh, not to mention, the part that sealed the deal was the bassist looked just like Kevin James, so there's that as well. Afterwards, we went back to Rachel's brother's place and hung out for a little bit before I headed back to my parents to sleep.
Saturday January 31st was an early rise for me, as I had to be at work by 7, after coaching for 2 hours I headed over to my other job and worked until 4pm that afternoon. I then stopped by Giordano's and had some delicious pizza with the family. Once home, Beth and I watched Guardians of the Galaxy which was a pretty great movie in my opinion! Beth seems to be on a superhero movie fix lately, so I don't mind joining in the fun! Around 9 that night I picked up Rachel from her brothers and our new stained wine rack! Thanks Phil!
February 1st, Super Bowl, or should I say the Big Game Sunday was here! We were planning on having a big party, but it had already snowed about 8 inches when I woke up at 6 and drove to coach an early morning practice again. This snow did not deter us from heading over to Auntie Wanda's for a delicious breakfast of eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, fruit, and toast though! After visiting with Auntie Wanda for a couple of hours, fixing some TVs, and shoveling a bit, we headed back to my parents place. The snow was still falling and having had to wake up so early, I decided to take a nap around 1pm. Big mistake as I did not awake until around 4:30pm, but clearly I needed the sleep. Once awake, Rachel and I got on our cooking game, cooking up a nice buffalo chicken dip while Beth put together a taco dip. The dips were ready mid 1st quarter of the game. Around halftime I was able to put together the actual meal which was a delicious chili meal served over rice. I enjoyed hanging out and watching the game with my parents, Beth, and Rachel. Everyone else couldn't make it because of the snow, but understandable because it was still snowing and we had about 13 inches total. The Seahawks ended up blowing the game by throwing the ball when they were down by 4 and on the 1 yard line with 30 seconds left. They got intercepted, and it was a really good defensive play, but I would definitley have run the ball 4 times in a row if I had to with the best power runner in the league. So the Patriots won, but they deserved to after one of the best SuperBowl's I have seen in a long time. The halftime show was even awesome! With Katy Perry dancing around with people in shark outfits and beach ball costumes. It was hilarious and would have been a whole lot more awesome if one was tripping on acid or some sort. Since we were unable to head home due to the blizzard conditions, Rachel and I spent another night in the ville. I shoveled some more before heading to bed. Check out some of the snow photos.
February 2nd started with me driving Rachel to the train so she could head to work. I then got myself a nice haircut for my trip coming up and did some packing. I also watched two 30 for 30s. One on the 70s Lakers and the other on Brian Bosworth. Both were very good and I recommend them! After working, I drove home for the first time since all of the snow fell. I got home to about 2 feet of snow covering my parking spot, but Rachel came down and helped me shovel and we actually went into Beast Mode and shoveled that spot out in less than 30 minutes. Check out the start, middle, and end. I made some delicious noodles and meat sauce for dinner and topped it off with a dessert of Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream sandwiches. Yum!
