It's Ya Boysssss....
10 Years!?! It has been exactly 10 years since we started our YouTube account (Lax1900) and over the course of those 10 years we have made 298 videos, have 1,554,191 views, and 983 subscribers. We have had our ups and down, our absolute gems and not so great vids, our tough times with Youtube by having to delete videos b/c of copyright claims (early stages), and good times with Youtube aka our monetization (we once got a $100 check!). We've seen the Lax1900 Youtube account transition from Jcubedproductions, to some lacrosse videos mixed in, to Malutavision. Lately, as adults we have only really released videos of music concerts we attend, or lacrosse highlights, but dang, 10 years and a whole lotta fun. Let's look back on some of it.
First ever video aired on YouTube, September 17th, 2006. The Congo was actually made as a school project for John who went to Catholic HS. Let's just say the teacher did not allow the video to be showed to the class, but this was the start of video editing and Jcubedproductions via the Internet!
Newest Jcubed Video aired on November 8th, 2015, and was our only video that year. As we have aged and had to get full time jobs, we find less and less time to make videos, let alone hang out together. We were able to make this quick film on a trip to Milwaukee back in fall of 2015. Not our best work, but we continued the streak of having at least one video out each year. It is already September of 2016, and no videos yet from your boys this year (partially because of our editing program), but looks like we need to kick it into gear and make that happen.
Our most popular video ever aired July 16, 2009 and has 179,502 views. This video almost got us on MTV's TV show Prank'd, we actually signed contracts and everything, but then they failed to air us and showed a bunch of other terrible videos. Too bad, but it was an exciting time in our lives. The fact that this is our most popular video also shows how weird the internet is.
Our least popular video ever: Jcubedpromo from the archives, 16 views. To be fair, this video was on Youtube, then removed along with many other videos because of Music copyright claim, then re-uploaded at a later date. Also we have plenty of videos in the double digit views, including a 40 minute documentary I made about my friends soccer team FCShytown.
The videos that started it all: 2001 classic films with the Old Man, Johnny being Johnny, and more. A shoulder camera that took VHS tapes filmed all of these bad boys. Now as you all know from the hidden footage, we have been making videos since 2001, so 15 years for YaBoys. Cheers to that. Also I am beyond happy and thankful that I am still best friends with these two guys. An endless list of amazing memories and videos help keep that going.
Our favorite videos. So so so tough to just pick one or two, so we compiled a list of 15 of our favorite videos. Those who contributed picks include, myself, John, Johnny, Brian, Adam, Beth, and Rachel. All who have had a tremendous impact on Jcubedproductions throughout the process. Although now that I think about it, this is Rachel's favorite Jcubed vid of all time. Enjoy
I will buy a drink (or three) to anyone who watched all 15 of those videos just now. Keep in mind there are a plentiful amount of other AMAZING Jcubed videos out there. I would love to hear what everyone's favorite Jcubed video of all time is. Let us know!
In the absence of our own videos on YouTube lately, I have spent a good amount of time watching other channels. Check out a few of my favorite YouTube channels that I have been digging deep into as of late.
Casey Neistat - daily youtube vlogger who is quite inspirational. His work ethic and style are unmatched.
Philip DeFranco - classic Philly D aka sxephil who gives me all my daily news in a 10 minute video. Also recently celebrated his 10 year anniversary on the tubes.
Vox - super cool channel with informational videos that cover a wide variety of topics by using animated graphics.
Wax - my favorite youtube rapper of all time. If you aren't in to rap, check out his hilarious fast food reviews on his Chain Reaction series.
Unbox Therapy - see some crazy and interested tech gadgets and how they work
Well, there you have it friends. Thank you all for the amazing DECADE, and here's to hoping we can get back on track. I leave you with this behind the scenes photo of Jcubed's Jym and part of that video that someone stole and gave a hilarious title. Farewell for now.
