Half priced what?

Song of the Week: Touch The Sky when Soul Meets Body - Death Cab for Yeezy. A mashup between Kanye and Death Cab. This mashup was posted on soundcloud for about 24 hours before Kanye's team took it down for copyright reasons. This seems to be a recurring theme with Kanye and his new album The Life of Pablo which he says will never be for sale and is only streaming on Tidal. I am sure this will change since his album had been torrented over 600k times early last week. It is 2016, you can't stop the people. The Death Cab for Yeezy album has been re-posted around the internet, but it constantly being removed, so we shall see if it lasts here. If you can't find the 6 songs that were mashed, holla at a boy and I'll hook you up.   Check it out.

Here is a notable event of the week, Rachel uses a car phone charger for the first time ever! Quite an accomplishment and very proud of her of making this big step in her life. A standard and busy work week was followed up with a jam packed weekend of wedding planning events, visiting friends and family, and a little bit of lax preparation. I am also going to mention that we stumbled upon some insane deals on alcoholic beverages. Basically half off on a lot of products, must keep this in mind for every February. Our hottest pick-up was a 4 pack of budlight that was taped together with packing tape. Save Dat Money, and for those who haven't, go check out your local store and see if there is any left! Check out this interesting article/visual about what muscles we are stretching when we do specific stretches. Pretty neat. Also Beth's blog about baking has me hungry, so I am going to go grab some lunch!

Movie of the Week: LCD Soundsystem's Shut Up and Play the Hits. An interesting look at frontman James Murphy's 48 hours before and after his final show. He had a late start and an early exit to the music industry. However, he is back in 2016!

Videos of the Week: Stumbled upon (searched) these two videos from the Delta Buds shows John and I attended back in June. There were some dudes with some nice cameras filming and I was wondering when they would release some of the stuff. These are the only two videos so far.

I don't know about you guys, but I am sold on Frog Fitness after watching this video. Let me know if you will be investing in Frog Fitness!

Making a Murderer: The Simpsons Version.

TV Show of the Week: Walking Dead is back and they are finally killing off some of the lame characters! Hooray!

Thanks for reading

Only 1 week until the madness begins! High School Varsity Lax!

A Start to the Season

The FV Season started on Saturday 1/23, I am coaching a C level U13 team this year which is a nice setup for the busy year I will have with Varsity. First practice and some kid already hit me in the face with his stick. Joy!

Song of the Week: Pretty Pimpin by Kurt Vile. Shout out to John for showing me this jam. Potentially may see this guy come April.

The Non-Drinking streak is over folks. Stopped at a standstill at 20 days in to the new year, thanks to the woman at Jewel who was giving out free tastings of wine. How could we say no? We indulge in some more wine later that night, she sold us a bottle of the sample... So we go 20 days without drinking, only to realize that we just end up snacking and eating more food, but it was good for our livers I am sure!

After practice, Rachel and I met up with Rachel's bro Phil and Dad, as well as my mom to pick out our Tuxes for the wedding. Gonna look baller. Later that evening Beth, Rachel, Rob, & I all hung out watching some Gossip Girl and complaining about the complainers of the world. During this time, I came to the realization that before YouTube and videos online, I would search for videos on KaZaa (similar to Napster) and then torrent/download them. Was anyone else in the same boat as me? Now it is amazing that almost anything you want to see can be found on YouTube or similar video sharing websites, and you don't have to download anything!

In the meantime, I have been training endlessly on Mario 64, dominating Bowser and all his minions, claiming 120 stars and meeting with Yoshi for a secret rendezvous a top the castle while Peach bakes a cake for me. But seriously, I got so frustrated a few times with the video game I would just yell at the TV, tell Mario to suck one, and then shut the game off. Only to come back 2 minutes later and get back after it. My gamers out there know the feeling.

A couple of quick shots to sum up the weekend. Rachel, Beth, & I drove past a car with 2 goldens in the back, lovely guys! Rachel even yelled at the guy in the passenger seat for sleeping when there were such beautiful goldens in his presence. Also witnessed the closing down of The Edge Bar & Grill down the street from us. We had only been once, but this place was open 24 hours a day! Kind of sad to see it go!

Video of the Week: Finished editing the Tallest Man On Earth show John, Rachel, Melissa, & I attended at Hope College back in September. Great show!

Movie of the Week: Get Hard with Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. Sad dogging it from here on out. This movie got me hard.

TV Show of the week: Finished up Making a Murderer. Sad times. Being poor and living in a small town where you are not on the side of people with power seems like a very bad combo. Personally I think Steve Avery is innocent, even though the show is scripted and edited to do just that, it seems very hard for a couple of "dumb" folks to clean up a huge mess. Also his poor nephew who doesn't seem to know left from right gets pulled into it. I am a man of conspiracies though so would love to see some argument for the other side.

Podcast of the week: Serial season two. P.O.W Private Bergdahl leaves his post and gets captured by the taliban. Finally released after 5 years. Is he a deserter and traitor, or should he be let free? First 5 episodes down, released bi-weekly now. Give it a listen!

Thanks for reading, see ya next Monday!

Sculpting into Shape

So, in order to get in shape for the Wedding, Rachel started having me go to Core Power Yoga Sculpt class a couple weeks back with her. And let me tell you, it might be the hardest workout I've done. A combination of the non-stop movements, as well with it being around 100 degrees in there, and the big one, I am probably the most out of shape I have been in awhile, it is very very tough. So tough in fact that in one of the classes, I just couldn't take it any more and had to do a "walk of shame" past the rest of the class (mostly women) into the hallway to catch my breath...But I love it! And I am so glad Rachel brought me to it and we go every weekend because it is a great workout and I have not sweat like this in years! Gotta keep it up and get my cardio and heavy-ish lifting back into gear on my own! Thanks Rach!

Song of the Week: About a week or two late, but the blog has had a slow start.

RIP David Bowie. A little tribute to him Beth and I made at work, enjoy.

Serial Podcast Season 1 - Did Adnan Syed commit murder? Or was he set up? This was a very interesting and fact filled podcast about the murder of Hae Lee that took place in Baltimore in early 1999. I highly suggest all those to listen, just listen on your daily commute and you'll be done in no time!

Rachel and I went to see Blue Man Group on Sunday January 17th, 2016. I expected a pretty good show, but ended up loving it! I was blown away by the entertainment piece of it and had a fantastic time! From the blue men catching an absurd amount of gumballs/marshmallows in their mouth, to a dance party as giant balls were released from the ceiling, to crowd interactment, and of course the blue men playing the drums with some paint. Great stuff at the Briar Street Theatre!

On Martin Luther King Day, we had our tasting at Meson Sabika with the families! Get ready for some delicious food and tapas in just under 5 months friends!

Video of the Week: Rachel and I were featured in a commercial for an up and coming Chicago company, ChopBox! Check it out.

Movie of the Week: A tie between two war documentaries - Restrepo / Korengal - Both on Netflix, Restrepo is the first in the two part series.

TV Show of the Week: Making a Murderer. I am about halfway through and don't understand the hype, but maybe the second half of the show gets less repetitive and boring...

The blog will return to a Monday release starting this upcoming Monday! See ya then!
